Logo Diffusion vs Canva Logo Maker: Features, Quality & Use Cases

This page compares Canva Logo Maker and Logo Diffusion on how a logo starts, what you can change afterward, which files you get, what you own and what it costs. Both tools also got the same brief, a logo for a fictional golf team called Royal Irons, and all six results are shown and described below.
Every other logo on the page is real Logo Diffusion output: logos from its public gallery with the prompts that made them, an edit made in the app and a Vectorize close-up.
What is Logo Diffusion?
Logo Diffusion is an AI logo generator. Text to Logo turns a written prompt into logo options, Sketch to Logo starts from a drawing and Image to Logo starts from an uploaded image. In Text to Logo you choose one of 11 logo styles or leave it on Auto, and each generation returns 4 options on a paid plan or 2 on the free plan.
A mascot with the business name in it takes one sentence. This prompt names the animal, two props and the studio:

What is Canva Logo Maker?

Canva is a design platform for presentations, social posts, documents, video, print and websites, and its logo maker is one part of it. Canva says the logo maker and editor is made for non-designers and works by drag and drop: you start from a template, then add icons and illustrations from Canva’s library by searching a keyword. Its AI Logo Generator is the other way in, where you type a text prompt and get an image back.

The Royal Irons test: one brief, both tools
Each tool got the same brief: a logo for a fictional golf team called Royal Irons. Canva’s three came from its AI Logo Generator, and nothing on either side was edited afterward. Canva’s results are on the left of the image and Logo Diffusion’s are on the right.

Canva returned three painted golf scenes in sepia and brown:
- A golfer finishing his swing on tufts of grass inside a brown shield, with ROYAL IRONS arched underneath in a brown serif, on cream.
- A detailed golfer in a cap at the top of his swing, with shaded clothes, long grass and a ball in the air, inside a tall shield with a brown border.
- A black golfer silhouette and a ball in flight on a cream shield, with ROYAL IRONS on a curling cream ribbon, over a mottled brown background.
Logo Diffusion returned three badges in flat dark green, white and cream:
- A white shield with a heavy green border, a golfer silhouette at the top of his backswing, and the name in white on the dark base: ROYAL above a condensed IRONS, with a golf ball under the letters.
- A tall cream shield with ROYAL in large green capitals, IRONS small beneath it, and a green golfer finishing his swing on a mound with a ball set into it.
- A solid green shield with a white geometric golfer in a cap, ROYAL IRONS on a white band and a ball on a tee at the bottom point.
Canva’s golfers carry shading, grass texture and painted backgrounds. Logo Diffusion’s are single flat shapes, each badge keeps to two or three colors, and the name sits inside the badge with the golfer.
Logo quality and originality
Canva’s help center says its logo templates can be used by anyone, so the rights to a logo made from one are non-exclusive and it can’t be registered as a trademark. Stock photos and graphics from Canva’s library carry the same limit, because other Canva users are free to use them.
Text to Logo draws each logo from the words of your prompt, so the idea can be one no template holds. This prompt grows a lighthouse out of a lotus flower:
Lighthouse emerging from a lotus flower, a symbol of guidance and purity, depicted in a line art logo.

Canva’s AI Logo Generator and creative control
Canva’s AI Logo Generator offers image styles such as 3D Render, Graphic Design Vector, Illustration and two Sketch styles. When a result misses, Canva’s own advice is to tweak your words or style and regenerate. Templates are changed by hand in the editor, and paid plans add Magic Edit, which changes part of an image from a short prompt.
Logo Diffusion’s 11 styles are logo styles, Mascot, Badge/Crest, Monogram and Line Art among them, and a logo you already like is changed in the Magic Editor from a text instruction. This edit gave the Rascal Studios logo a new name:
change the word Rascal to Bandit, keep STUDIOS, the fox, the cards, the lettering style and the colors the same

Workflow and export
Canva’s free plan downloads PNG, JPG and PDF. Its help center lists SVG and transparent PNG downloads for Canva Pro, Teams, Education and Nonprofits accounts.
In Logo Diffusion, download the PNG, then run it through Vectorize for the layered SVG. Vectorize costs 5 credits with the Default vectorizer, which the free plan can use twice a month, or 8 credits with the HQ vectorizer on paid plans.

The same workspace has Logo Variations for new takes on a finished logo, and Logo System in the Magic Editor for wordmark, lettermark, emblem and symbol versions of it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I buy exclusive rights to a Canva graphic for my logo?
No. Canva’s help center says buying exclusive rights to one of its graphics is not something it offers, and it suggests a local designer instead. Its two routes to a logo you can register as a trademark are building one from scratch with its simple lines, shapes and fonts, or uploading a logo you designed elsewhere.
